I have had the privilege of expanding and sharpening my skill set in multiple environments over the span of over a decade. Starting with earning a BA in Journalism and Communications – Broadcast concentration [with a minor in Leisure/Sport Management], I honed my legacy media skills with The Charlotte Observer and NASCAR Images (now NASCAR Media Group). Seeing the shift in the media business to interactive, social and online-based formats and platforms, I saw the need to update my knowledge kit. I returned to school, earning an MA in Interactive Media.
I was fortunate to be able to put my education into practice right out of the gate, working with the Washington Freedom of the former Women’s Professional Soccer league. Through my site, theimediaplaybook.com, I have continued to monitor and analyze trends and uses of interactive and social media, developing a guiding principles ‘playbook’ of sorts, compiling best practices and strategies to avoid. I honed my skills as an Social Media Marketing Specialist with The Canton Agency. I worked as the Social Media Specialist for the Maryland Chamber of Commerce. I was a Program/Content Coordinator with imre on a freelance/contract basis. I am currently a volunteer Social Media Ambassador for Elon University. I also freelance through theimediaplaybook.com.
More recently, I have spent time working at Strategic Tax Resolution as their Digital Marketing Manager and at Burkentine Real Estate Group as a Social Media Coordinator.
